The Government has totally failed to address the crisis in social care – Barbara Keeley
Barbara Keeley MP, Labour’s Shadow Cabinet Minister for Social Care, responding to reports of internal Government documents showing that if EU migrants are barred from coming to the UK there will be a shortfall of 28,000 care staff within five years, said:
“The Government has totally failed to address the crisis in social care putting an increasing burden on family carers and meaning many carers have to give up work because the support they need just isn’t there.
“And now the Government’s chaotic approach to Brexit is making the workforce crisis in social care even worse.
“Ministers should immediately make clear that health and care staff are welcome here to care for our sick and our elderly after Britain leaves the European Union.”
