How Labour will fix the crisis in the NHS with new technology and more staff

Wes Streeting and Keir Starmer in NHS lab

A central mission of the next Labour Government will be to build an NHS fit for the future– not just to arrest the crisis in the NHS we see today, but to make sure the NHS is fit for the next 75 years with all of the opportunities and challenges it will bring.

At the heart of our mission is the biggest expansion of NHS staff in history, so that we’ve got the staff we need to treat patients on time. This will put the NHS at the heart of Labour’s missions to build a better Britain.

A Labour government will mean not just a great National Health Service, but a Neighborhood Health Service in every community.

We will deliver:

  • Better access to see a GP
  • More new facilities like Community Mental Health hubs
  • Mental health support available for young people in every school
  • Making sure we got the district nurses and health visitors we need
  • Social care to treat people and care for them in the comfort and safety of their own home

The next Labour government will ensure that we harness the enormous breakthroughs we’re seeing in life sciences and technology with discoveries being made here in Britain.

That means improvements in areas like making sure you can book an appointment with a GP as quickly as you can order a takeaway.

Embracing new technologies are also essential for providing patients with groundbreaking treatments, diagnosing and treating people faster, and even enabling doctors to actually predict and prevent illness.
