How Labour will build a foundation for prosperity with GB Energy

We all know we have more to do to tackle climate change.

But if we’re bold, and if we take decisive action now, then there’s also a golden opportunity – the biggest chance we’ve had for decades to make our country work for working people.

All around the world the race is on. New technologies, new industries and new jobs are being created. Our national mission will bring them to our shores.

Other countries recognise that there are big opportunities as we transition to a zero-carbon economy, to create those jobs as well as the energy security.

That’s why an incoming Labour Government is determined to partner with business to take advantage of those big opportunities.

Those opportunities can reduce energy bills, secure our energy supplies and create good jobs, right across the country but especially in our former industrial heartlands, and in coastal communities.

Good jobs with decent wages and with pride in the work that we are doing that’s what Labour’s Green Prosperity Plan is all about: investing alongside business in the opportunities that the future holds.

There’s an ambitious and exciting future possible for our country, but it will take a Labour Government working with business to unlock those opportunities for working people. We will put clean energy at the heart of Labour’s missions to build a better Britain.

Every family in the country has seen over the last couple of years the effects of Tory failure in energy policy. We can’t go on like this.

That’s why Labour has a plan for clean power by 2030. Cheap, home-grown, clean power to cut bills for families across the country, alongside GB Energy, our publicly-owned energy company, to deliver for communities across Britain.

This means more well-paid jobs, lower bills and energy security. Real leadership is not just making big promises and saying the right words, it’s about taking meaningful action to save our planet.

This is a new foundation for prosperity. Clean British energy can give us cheaper bills, more energy security. British power for British jobs.

But it’s also a path towards a new Britain. A united Britain. A Britain once again built by and for working people, right across our nations and regions.

It’s always easy to talk a good game. Making this a reality is harder to do, but we embrace the challenge to win the race for the opportunities of tomorrow.
