Equalities Monitoring Form FAQs

About the Equalities Monitoring Form

We want to gather information about the diversity of our hugely expanded membership, so we can harness that diversity, and create a mass movement that can transform our society.

You can complete the Equalities Monitoring Form here.

Why are you asking about these specific questions?

The questions used have been taken from the Office of National Statistics guide.

Why is the Labour Party collecting this data?

The Democracy Review recommended that the Labour Party gather data about the ethnic background and disabilities of its members.  This will allow the Party to better understand the diversity of its membership, and ensure it is reflected at local, regional, and national level.

What will the Labour Party do with this data?

This data will help inform future rule changes and procedures to ensure BAME members and disabled members are properly represented.

It may also be used to run internal elections where positions are elected by just BAME or disabled members.

All data will be stored securely on the Labour Party’s membership database, and will not be shared with any other organisations.

Who is being asked for information?

All Labour Party members will be given the opportunity to complete the monitoring form.  There is no obligation to complete the monitoring form, and you may answer as many or as few questions as you wish.
