The gap between what the Tories say and do on the environment couldn’t be wider – Sue Hayman MP
Sue Hayman MP, Labour’s Shadow Environment Secretary, commenting on the referral of the UK to the European Court of Justice for failing to tackle illegal levels of air pollution, said:
“The Tories have had to be dragged through the courts time and again over this public health emergency, but their plans remain inadequate.
“This news coming on the day the Government has announced measures to make fracking easier shows that the gap between what the Tories say and do on the environment couldn’t be wider.
“With air pollution contributing to 40,000 premature deaths every year, the Government must urgently bring forward a new Clean Air Act and introduce a network of clean air zones to tackle illegal air pollution.”
