Government ban on polluting fuels for domestic burning – Pollard responds
Luke Pollard MP, Labour’s Shadow Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Secretary, responding to the government’s ban on sale of coal and ‘wet’ wood for domestic burning, said:
“The government have been forced to take this long overdue action only after losing a litany of court cases. And they’re still refusing to do their bit to protect children’s health by tackling air pollution and the climate crisis – as the decision to extend open cast coal mining shows.
“People across the country are willing to do their bit to improve air quality and improve emissions. Now Ministers must get rid of coal in our energy supply and bring forward the ban on petrol and diesel engines.”
