Government’s glacial response to the victims of Grenfell is a betrayal – Tony Lloyd
Tony Lloyd MP, Shadow Housing Minister, responding to the announcement that nine months on from the Grenfell Tower fire just 62 out of 204 households have been resettled into permanent accommodation, said:
“The Government’s glacial response in providing support for the victims of the Grenfell Tower is a betrayal of the survivors.
“It is fundamentally unacceptable that the Government has admitted that by the one-year anniversary of the tragedy all people will not have been permanently rehoused.
“Nobody wants to be in emergency accommodation after all this time, and especially not with children. It is a shameful record and it is critical that the Government now makes the failing Kensington and Chelsea Council get the job done.”
