Luke Pollard responds to leaked Catch App papers

Luke Pollard MP, Labour’s Shadow Environment Secretary, responding to the fishing regulator’s apology following leaked Catch App papers, said:

“Instead of hiding behind officials, it should have been Ministers who stepped up and apologised for the insulting language used about fishers. Leaving it to others to do raises questions about what lessons Ministers are taking from this sorry episode.

“The government must immediately launch an investigation into how this was allowed onto the website, how they hired contractors who did the work, and how this was approved.

“The catch recording app for our fishers is a multi-million pound project that has been mis-managed at every turn. The government needs to listen to our fishing communities and #ScrapTheApp.”
