Margaret Greenwood responds to ONS employment figures
Margaret Greenwood MP, Labour’s Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, responding to ONS employment figures, said:
“The slowdown in job creation is a concern with the current uncertainty over Brexit, and average pay still has not returned to the level it was in 2008. For millions of people, the reality of work is one of low pay and insecurity.
“In-work poverty is a persistent problem: 70 per cent of children growing up in poverty live in families where someone is in work.
“Labour will protect employment rights and invest in the economy to create decent jobs that last and lift people out of poverty.“
