Sue Hayman responds to Environment Audit Committee report into the collapse of Government investment in clean energy

Sue Hayman MP, Labour’s Shadow Environment Secretary, responding to a new report by the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee into the collapse of Government investment in clean energy, said:

“This damning report confirms what we have known for some time; this Government is all talk and no action when it comes to the environment. One of Theresa May’s very first acts as Prime Minister was to abolish the department responsible for tackling climate change so it’s no wonder carbon targets are under threat.

“After months of Michael Gove parading around our TV studios, nothing much seems to have changed, apart from the reusable coffee cup he now sometimes carries to meetings.

“Labour is calling on the Government to stop dragging its feet with endless consultations and to bring forward real action and legislation on the environment ahead of the UK leaving the EU next year.”
