Sue Hayman responds to Improving Air Quality report
Sue Hayman MP, Shadow Environment Secretary, commenting on the joint Select Committees report ‘Improving Air Quality’ which exposes the Government’s inadequacies over air quality plans, said:
“The time has come for empty posturing and sound bites on the environment from Michael Gove has to end. The report today is clear – the Government cannot continue to put public health at risk.
“Despite being dragged through the High Court three times on their inadequate air quality plans, this Government still refuses to demonstrate any real urgency.
“Labour calls on the Government to stop shunting the problem onto cash-strapped councils, bring forward a new Clean Air Act and to demonstrate the leadership so desperately needed to tackle this public health emergency.”
