The Chancellor’s shelving of the budget infrastructure plan is a “betrayal” of voters
The Chancellor’s shelving of the budget infrastructure plan is a “betrayal” of the voters in seats the Tories gained in the general election, Labour has said.
Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell said Rishi Sunak’s budget on Wednesday will be a “huge let down” for those voters:
“Just weeks after he was installed by Dominic Cummings as a stooge Chancellor, Rishi Sunak has moved quickly to betray the voters in the seats the Tories gained in the North and Midlands in December’s genral election.
“The unacceptable delay to the implementation of the National Infrastructure strategy is an early indication of the huge let down Wednesday’s budget will be for these voters whose communities desperately need an immediate start to large scale infrastructure investment.
“It also shows once again Johnson’s basic incapability to properly manage government.”
