Labour’s Plan for Change: The Government’s ambitious milestones to deliver for working people
The Labour Government has set out ambitious milestones Labour will deliver over the next five years, putting us on track to a decade of national renewal.
These milestones reflect the priorities of working people and build on what Labour has already done to turn around Britain, having inherited unprecedented challenges of crumbling public services and a £22 billion black hole in the public finances after 14 years of the Conservatives.
The Plan for Change sets out ambitious but achievable milestones on each mission that will be reached by the end of the Parliament, driving real improvements in the lives of working people.
Built on the foundations of economic stability, economic security and border security, by the next election, this is what Labour will deliver:
Raising living standards in every part of the United Kingdom, so working people have more money in their pocket
Building 1.5 million homes in England and fast-tracking planning decisions to create decent affordable housing for working people
Ending hospital backlogs to meet the NHS standard of 92% of patients in England waiting no long than 18 weeks for elective treatment, so your family can be seen sooner
Putting police back on the beat with a named officer for every neighbourhood, so you feel safer in your community
Giving children the best start in life, so 75% of five-year-olds in England are ready to learn when they start school
Securing home-grown energy to help protect billpayers, while also accelerating the UK to net zero
