Angela Rayner comments on EPI analysis of the Teacher’s Pay Grant
Angela Rayner MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, commenting on EPI analysis of the Teacher’s Pay Grant, said:
“The Prime Minister told us that austerity was over and promised that she would end the pay cuts for public servants, but austerity is clearly not over for our schools and hard-working teachers.
“The Conservatives promised to end the public sector pay cap, and they promised that they would fund the pay rise. The stark reality is that many schools are not getting the funding they need and will be facing another round of cuts as a result.
“Our schools need more than the Chancellor’s “little extras”, and Labour will deliver it, ending Conservative cuts to school budgets, increasing per pupil funding in real terms, and providing new money to provide a genuinely fully-funded pay rise for teachers.”
