Dr Rosena Allin-Khan comments on MPs’ report into children’s mental health services

Dr Rosena Allin-Khan MP, Labour’s Shadow Cabinet Minister for Mental Health, commenting on the Health and Social Care Committee’s report warning demand for mental health services for children and young people is pushing the NHS to “breaking point”, said:

“Our children futures can’t be put at risk because the Government continues to ignore the rising demand for mental health services.

“Throughout the pandemic, we have been warning of the mental health impact of Covid on our children and young people. This report makes clear that urgent action is needed now.

“That’s why at conference we announced that a Labour Government would put an open access mental health hub for children and young people in every community – something the select committee identified as a key recommendation. Labour would also provide specialist mental health support in every school.”
