Government refuses debate on murders of Northamptonshire toddlers
Valerie Vaz MP, Labour’s Shadow Leader of the House, commenting after the new Leader of the House Mel Stride refused to reply to her request to debate the cases of two toddlers murdered in Northamptonshire, said:
“MPs must not be stopped from asking questions about the terrible tragedy of two toddlers being murdered – so the government must urgently provide time to debate the failures of this Tory council.
“Ofsted has said that Northamptonshire’s vulnerable children were not being adequately protected because of the County Council’s financial problems – which are a direct consequence of Tory and Lib Dem austerity.”
