It’s shameful that cancer patients aren’t being seen on time – Ashworth responds to Cancer Research UK
Jonathan Ashworth, Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary, commenting on new research from Cancer Research UK showing that a quarter of cancer patients experience avoidable delays, said:
“It’s shameful that cancer patients aren’t being seen on time, especially when we know that early diagnosis leads to better treatment and survival.
“These figures are a reminder that almost ten years of Tory underfunding and understaffing has left patients increasingly anxious and worried for tests and results, and forced to wait longer for vital treatment.
“Labour will invest in cancer care as part of our £40bn NHS cash boost.”
