Javid must condemn secret unit that collaborated with blacklisters – McDonnell
John McDonnell MP, Labour’s Shadow Chancellor and one of the founders of the blacklist support group, responding to reports detailing how a secretive Met Police unit aided blacklisting, said:
“It is deeply disturbing that this secretive unit collaborated with the blacklisters, who blocked people’s employment for years. Their actions were a deliberate attempt to undermine the right of all workers to withhold their labour.
“The Tories have a poor record on workers’ rights and on the day that they are attempting to bribe workers to support their damaging Brexit deal, they must show whose side they are really on.
“So the Home Secretary must now condemn the unit’s actions in the strongest terms and take steps to ensure there can be no repeat. Labour is committed to holding a full public inquiry into the entire scandal.”
