Labour comments on the Chancellor’s Mansion House speech
Pat McFadden MP, Labour’s Shadow Economic Secretary to the Treasury, commenting on the Chancellor’s Mansion House speech, said:
“The Government’s decision to leave financial services out of the deal they negotiated with the EU, and then to not even bother trying to build on that deal to support them speaks volumes about the lack of value Ministers place on this world leading British industry.
“The Government should be doing all they can to help our financial services to thrive.
“For the jobs and economy of the future, innovation is a great British strength and we want our financial services to be at the heart of that.
“We welcome the consultation on access to cash but the government needs to move quickly. It is very important as overall cash use declines that we maintain a free to use nationwide cash network for those who still depend on using cash.”
