Long overdue acknowledgement of need for independent inquiry into Tory Islamophobia

Naz Shah MP, Labour’s Shadow Women and Equalities Minister, responding to Sajid Javid saying he would be happy for there to be an independent investigation into Islamophobia in the Tory Party, said:

“This acknowledgement from a Cabinet Minister of the need for an independent inquiry into Islamophobia in the Tory Party is long overdue.

“It is incredibly disappointing that it took the jostling of a leadership campaign to force the issue, but all the other leadership candidates should now back this call and get on with it.”
