These new “blagging” revelations show Leveson Part 2 must go ahead – Watson
Tom Watson MP, Labour’s Shadow Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Secretary, commenting on new allegations that the Sunday Times used a blagger to access personal information of a Cabinet Minister and members of the public, said:
“Last week when the Tories announced they were going back on their promises to victims of phone hacking and scrapping Leveson Part 2, they said it was because Leveson Part 1 had been comprehensive and questions about press criminality had been answered.
“These new revelations show that is not the case. Allegations of criminality remain.
“The only way to reach the truth and achieve justice for victims is for Leveson Part 2 to go ahead. The Government must reconsider their position.”
