Rise in university unconditional offers – Gordon Marsden responds
Gordon Marsden MP, Labour’s Shadow Higher Education Minister, responding to a report revealing the increase in the number of unconditional offers, said:
“It is deeply concerning that the number of unconditional offers continues to rise, with seemingly no regard for the potentially negative effect they have on students.
“Far too often, our university admissions system fails to meet the needs of students. Universities are incentivised to make widespread use of unconditional offers, while students are applying before they have meaningful information about their options.
“Radical reform of our admissions system is needed to ensure wider access to higher education, support for disadvantaged young people, and that the needs of students are put first.”
