Today’s report is another resounding reminder of Tory failure on children’s mental health – Barbara Keeley
Barbara Keeley MP, Labour’s Shadow Cabinet Minister, commenting on the findings of CQC’s report, Are We Listening?, said:
“Today’s report is another resounding reminder of Tory failure on children’s mental health, showing that children and young people are simply not getting the right care when they need it because of disjointed, under-equipped services.
“Children and young people are being failed because of this Tory Government’s short-sighted approach to funding mental health services, with inappropriate eligibility criteria, understaffing and delays forming barriers to timely care.
“The Tories need to follow Labour’s example by increasing the proportion of the mental health budget spent on children and young people’s mental health while ring-fencing budgets to ensure that money reaches the front line.
