What is the Marked Register?

To put it simply, without this we’re fighting elections blind.

Get your Constituency Labour Party (CLP) or Labour Group to buy a copy of the Marked Register and enter the data into Contact Creator as soon as you can.

What is the Marked Register?

When you go to vote, someone will put a mark next to your name to show you’ve voted. This is a marked copy of the Electoral Register, and is known as the ‘Marked Register’. It tells us exactly who has and hasn’t voted in that election.

How does this help the Labour Party?

Knowing who has and hasn’t voted means we can target our campaigning better in future.

For example, if voter ID data tells us that someone supports Labour, but the Marked Register data shows us that they don’t always vote, we can target them with things that make them more likely to go out and vote – like door knocking or postal vote application forms.

In local elections, the result can come down to just a handful of votes. By improving our targeting, we can increase our chance of winning.

How can my CLP get the Marked Register?

After elections, candidates and election agents are allowed to buy the data from your local authority’s electoral services department. Once this has been done, your CLP should organise a team of volunteers to enter the data into Contact Creator.

Find out more about the cost of the marked register, entering the data, and other questions by checking out the FAQs below. You can also email [email protected] for further assistance.

Good data from the marked register is vital for running a good campaign. Make sure your CLP buys the marked register and starts entering the data as soon as possible.
